Casting

At the centre of the creative energy inspiring every Cirque du Soleil show are acrobats, athletes, dancers, singers, musicians, clowns and actors at the pinnacle of their art: they are the Cirque du Soleil artists.

Each year, the Casting team from Cirque du Soleil International Headquarters in Montreal combs the planet, seeking new talent to meet the needs of shows in performance, productions in the creation phase, and new projects.

In pursuing this quest, the acrobatic and artistic talent scouts attend major sports events as well as various festivals and multidisciplinary shows. Their goal: to spot candidates; hold auditions; build bridges with the sports, arts and circus communities; and keep abreast of the latest trends.

The “virtual talent scout”

For acrobats, athletes and artists who are ready to step into the Cirque du Soleil adventure, Casting also provides a “virtual talent scout”: www.cirquedusoleil.com/casting.

Centred on the theme Let your talent shine, this virtual experience immerses candidates in the Cirque du Soleil world. They can discover the disciplines featured in the shows, find out how to apply and learn about the work environment, as well as view testimonials from artists and mentors, the talent scouts’ biographies, and more.

The “virtual talent scout” makes extensive use of video, with some hundred clips from shows allowing applicants to see how far the limits of their discipline are pushed on stage. Also, at any point in their visit, they can click over to the website’s registration system, where they can apply online.

The Casting team is not only looking for artists, athletes and acrobats with specific athletic or artistic skills; it also seeks people who are ready and willing to express their creativity. There are now over 1,000 artists of 50 nationalities bringing Cirque du Soleil shows to life, day after day, around the world.
