Get ready to Run away with Cirque du Soleil !
Many of us have dreamt of 'running away with the circus', but how many of us actually put that knapsack on our back and waited for the circus to come to town and actually did it? Well, for the last six years, nearly 2,000 residents of the Las Vegas Valley have done just that! At least for one day!
Cirque du Soleil 's annual 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk, now an eagerly anticipated community event, started with an idea from some very creative employees of Cirque du Soleil and MGM Mirage who wanted to have fun and make a difference in the community. Today, the event has grown from a just a few hundred participants to thousands! As the excitement grows, we have decided to partner with the Springs Preserve, to make it possible for more residents to take part and at the same time discover an amazing Las Vegas treasure!
The Springs Preserve is a 180-acre national historic site that is the original oasis of Las Vegas and a beacon for a sustainable future. This cultural and historic attraction is located just three miles from the Strip, and since sustainability and responsibility are part of Cirque's global citizenship mandates, our partnership seemed natural.
The Preserve includes 8-acres of botanical gardens and a series of walking trails that will be the new home of Cirque du Soleil 's annual 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk. The event is filled with music, fun and color from the characters of our Las Vegas shows, to the lush colors of the nature preserve.
