April 21, 2007 … It was Alegría BIRTHDAY!!!!

As Alegría prepares to tear down in lovely Barcelona at the end of the week, we look back on what ended up being a very busy city for us. The list of activities included a week packed with information in preparation for the transfer to South America, along with a little taste of the Brazilian culture. The artists and staff were surprised by the visit of a samba band on site and a caipirinhas party on our very own Ipanema Beach. We also celebrated 4,500 shows and our 13th birthday! Alegría is now a teenager! We even found some time to fit in a bowling tournament for good measure. We will miss this lovely city and our beautiful site on the beach. Paris, here we come!

It has been 13 (12+1) years since Alegría came to life in Montreal, and today we continue to proudly disseminate the life and spirit of our show around the world.

Congratulations to everyone on making Alegría a continuously amazing experience not only to us on Planet Cirque, but to each and every one of the spectators who pass through our doors every day

Since 1994, Alegría has continued to inspire wonder and hope year in, year out. It is your efforts and commitment that allow the show's young spirit to mature and its magic to shine through.

Thank you to all those special individuals who at some point over the years were a part of the Alegría family and who made this gem which we in turn inherited. This is also your day!
