Community relations

Since 1989, Cirque du Soleil has devoted 1% of its annual revenue to social and cultural action programs. Aiming to be a responsible agent of change, Cirque du Soleil set up its creative complex in Saint-Michel, an area of Montreal regarded as one of the most sensitive neighbourhoods in Canada. Since then, the organization has collaborated on many programs and projects in the neighbourhood and in the city as a whole.

Social and cultural action

Having chosen to encourage the potential of youth, Cirque du Soleil has developed international expertise and leadership in the area of social circus. Since 1995, the Cirque du Monde program has offered young people an opportunity for a positive personal experience that can act as a catalyst. The foundation of Cirque du Monde’s educational approach is the meeting of circus arts and social intervention.

Both on tour and in its resident show sites, Cirque du Soleil holds many workshops and meetings with local partners. In addition, various organizations and social programs receive help from the Cirque’s benefit performances program. Cirque also remains an active member of the artistic community, supporting artists and artistic organizations in a variety of ways.
