On June 16, 2009, the official date of the 25th anniversary of Cirque du Soleil, artists and employees from all over the world put on their stilts and got together to mark this milestone anniversary in a festive and unique way. More than 1,900 people managed to complete the 100-metre regulatory distance imposed by Guinness in this attempt to set the world record for the most stilt-walkers gathered on many different sites around the world.
All the necessary documents were sent to the people at Guinness World Records to get this new record approved. We were told by Guinness that it would take several months to get the confirmation that we succeeded.
Our sincerest thanks to the artists and employees in Fortaleza (Brazil), Las Vegas (U.S.A.), Macau (China), Montreal (Canada), Nagoya (Japan), New York (U.S.A.), Orlando (U.S.A.) and Tokyo (Japan), as well as the people of Moscow (Russia), for their efforts and eccentric spirit, which made this day a festive event like no other!
