Over the course of 2012, Cirque du Soleil received some awards.
During the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Quebec Government Office in London and with a view to emphasizing the importance of business links between Quebec and the United Kingdom, the Quebec Government Office in London awarded Cirque du Soleil the Caisse de dépôt Special Award in recognition of the contribution made by Cirque du Soleil to the British economy. Cirque du Soleil first appeared in the United Kingdom in 1990 with the show Cirque réinventé in London’s Jubilee Gardens. This was the beginning of a long and special relationship between Cirque du Soleil and the British audience and, since 1996, the organization has presented one of its shows each year in the legendary Royal Albert Hall.
This year Cirque du Soleil received two awards for its creativity. Billboard Magazine has, since 2004, organized the prestigious Billboard Touring Conference and Awards ceremony at which tribute is paid to the entertainment industry’s top artists and professionals. Only a few days after celebrating its first year on tour, the Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour team won the Creative Content Award.This award pays tribute to new shows whose content is ambitious in both its design and its commercial success. Cirque du Soleil also received an award for its creativity at the first Premio Nacional de Creatividad José Maria Ricarte ceremony held in Barcelona, Spain.
