Gayle King is heading to Las Vegas for a special episode of “The Gayle King Show” airing Thursday, June 16 (10-11 a.m. ET/PT) featuring a behind-the-scenes tour of The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil in celebration of its fifth anniversary at The Mirage Hotel & Casino. The special will feature interviews with Sir Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Olivia Harrison, Sir George Martin, Giles Martin and Dominic Champagne.

With unprecedented behind-the-scenes access, “The Gayle King Show” will bring viewers the sights and sounds of the highly successful show as well as celebrity interviews from the red carpet anniversary event including SLASH and Elijah Wood.

In a sit down interview with King, Sir Paul McCartney discusses why he and John Lennon first started writing original songs, and why after all these years he still loves performing. Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison talk about their lives with John Lennon and George Harrison. “Fifth Beatle” Sir George Martin and his son Giles will share their impact on The Beatles legacy and director Dominic Champagne discusses his vision for LOVE.

“The Gayle King Show” special will re-air in primetime later that evening at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.

The Beatles LOVE 5th Anniversary

The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil will commemorate the 5th anniversary Wednesday, June 8 with a specially added performance and Beatles’ LOVE reunion. Since its June 2006 premiere, LOVE has performed over 2,000 shows for more than 4.3 million people. Recently named “Best Show in Las Vegas” by USA Today, LOVE has been voted “Best Show in Las Vegas” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal for four consecutive years and continues to be a celebrity favorite.

Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono Lennon, Olivia Harrison, Dhani Harrison, George Martin and Giles Martin are just some of the celebrities that will attend the 5th anniversary performance and party. The Beatles LOVE: A Fifth Anniversary Cirque du Soleil Showcase

Special Exhibit to Spotlight the Anniversary of
Beatles LOVE Opens June 8 In Downtown Los Angeles

The GRAMMY Museum unveils its newest special exhibit, The Beatles LOVE: A Fifth Anniversary Cirque du Soleil Showcase.  Residing on the Museum’s third floor, the exhibit celebrates the anniversary of LOVE, the permanent show at The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

“LOVE is an unprecedented approach to both The Beatles story and music,” said Executive Director Bob Santelli.  “We’re thrilled that Cirque du Soleil has decided to partner with us in continuing this elaborate Beatles experience.  The work of Cirque du Soleil’s creative team is remarkable, and we’re honored to showcase these pieces in our museum.”

Including signature show pieces, elaborately embellished costumes, original production instruments, and more, the exhibit includes 13 unique looks from the show never before exhibited in a museum.  Visitors also get to enjoy a three minute vignette featuring 3D footage from LOVE set to the music of “Revolution,” “Hey Jude,” “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” and “Help!”  The Beatles LOVE: A Fifth Anniversary Cirque du Soleil Showcase will remain on display through February 2012.

Now celebrating its fifth anniversary, LOVE brings the magic of Cirque du Soleil together with the spirit and passion of The Beatles to create an intimate and powerful entertainment experience.   It captures the essence of love that John, Paul, George and Ringo inspired during their astonishing adventure together.  The soundtrack to the Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil, produced by Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin, won two GRAMMY Awards in 2008 and went Double Platinum in 2011.  In 2010, the critically acclaimed LOVE documentary “All Together Now” won the GRAMMY Award for “Best Long Form Music Video.”

The GRAMMY Museum is located at 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Suite A245, Los Angeles, CA 90015. With an entrance off of Figueroa Street, the Museum resides within the L.A. LIVE campus, at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles.

"O" by Cirque du Soleil will celebrate its 6,000th show on May 22, 2011.

Inspired by the concept of infinity and the elegance of water's pure form, "O" pays tribute to the beauty of the theatre - from the simplest street performance to the most lavish of operas - where anything is possible and where the drama of life plays itself out before our very eyes.

• There are 4,400 active costume pieces in the show
• More than 10 million people have seen “O” since it premiered on Oct. 15, 1998
• 24 original cast members still perform in the show
• 20 original crew still work behind the scenes of the show
• Over the years, there have been a total of 217 performers
• 35 countries have been represented in the cast and crew

Criss Angel named Magician of the decade

Criss Angel has been named the first ever recipient of the Merlin Award for “Magician Of The Decade” by the International Magician’s Society. Angel was presented the award by IMS President Tony Hassini on stage following his Saturday evening performance of “Criss Angel BeLIEve” at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

“I never set out to win awards, just to push my own envelope and try to create something that’s never been done,” said Angel. “I must confess that it is an honor to be named Magician Of The Decade by the largest magic organization in the world.”

IMS founder Tony Hassini said, “The International Magician’s Society boasts over 37,000 members worldwide and has never named a Magician Of The Decade in its 40 year history.” Angel has previously won the Merlin for “Magician Of The Year” four times, including last year, marking the first time in the award’s history that an individual has won in consecutive years. Previous Merlin Award winners for Magician Of The Year include Siegfried and Roy, David Copperfield and Lance Burton.

Mystere in the news

Artists from Mystere can be seen on Las Vegas Fox affiliate, KVVU Fox 5. The promotional spots are fun and light-hearted showing that FOX5 is local and unpredictable by incorporating Mystere artists into situations with the KVVU on-air talent.
Four spots with the artists were produced and began airing in March and will continue to be on-air through August.
