Training

Before stepping onto the stage as a Cirque du Soleil artist, all candidates go through a period of training that varies in length according to their discipline and level of experience. To successfully recruit and train future artists, Cirque has put in place a program adapted to the needs of candidates in a wide range of disciplines and conducted by a team of interdisciplinary specialists.

Acrobatic coaches, artistic coaches and many other specialists (health professionals, performance experts, nutritionists, interpreters and so on) all contribute their special skills and talents to ensure acrobatics candidates from backgrounds such as acrobatic gymnastics and circus arts make a successful transition to the stage and reach their full potential. The following information on Cirque's training program is intended primarily for those artists.

The training undergone by candidates from artistic backgrounds—dancers, vocalists, musicians, clowns and actors—focuses on the act for which they were selected.

As soon as training gets underway, non-English-speaking candidates are provided with English courses, if necessary, to ensure they can function in English. Moreover, all candidates receive a custom-made costume and gradually learn how to apply their make-up.

Depending on your profile and experience and the act for which you were selected, training can last from a few days to several months.

Program

Our training program focuses on three different areas. Candidates must master each aspect before they can join a show:
