It was at the tender age of two that Jean-Damien discovered the discipline that would become one of his greatest passions—skiing. Introduced to sports by his father, Jean-Damien practised many different disciplines, including gymnastics, diving and karate. In 1987, he took up freestyle skiing, which enabled him to combine the various skills he acquired through diving and gymnastics. Between 1988 and 1999, Jean-Damien was a member of France’s national freestyle ski team. In 1997, he finished second on the freestyle skiing world cup circuit. He was crowned champion of France the following year, and went on to take part in the Albertville and Nagano Olympic Games.
After retiring from competition, Jean-Damien spent several years touring professionally, appearing at numerous sporting events. He then became a coach for Australia’s freestyle skiing talent squad and later for the Canadian freestyle ski team. Before joining the Casting team, Jean-Damien worked as a performer and consultant for the experimentation workshops set up during the creation of LOVE.
