Today was the first Tapis Rouge with the artists in the Car Doctor training room, and it brought a whole new life to the place. There was a buzz of excitement in the air. The artists couldn't wait to get into the theatre and see everything – the dressing rooms, the green room, and the stage.
I can imagine how thrilling it must be for them to be in Vegas and be a part of such a huge show. To many of them this is the biggest thing they've ever done and to be a part of the Cirque phenomenon in Vegas is not a small thing. I got a taste of that feeling when I went to see KÀ over the weekend. There really is no one else on earth making shows like ours. KÀ really blew me away, and the gantry is really unbelievable.
Having the artists here now brings home the fact that we've got a show to deliver. The production team is pretty much all here. A couple of the coaches came in over the weekend and by the end of the week we'll have the choreographers and Dominic Champagne in town also. Things are really going to start rolling. Production schedules that once seemed months away are now going to be put into practice.
It's funny, when we get caught up in a production it's like we've got our nose in a great book that we can't put down, and if we look up from it we realize that things are going on around us. It just feels like I've had my nose in the planning, the logistics, the housing, and the scheduling for so long that now that we're in Vegas I finally have a chance to look up and actually experience the making of a show.
Well, here we go!
