CIRQUE DU SOLEIL RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA!

NEW SHOW DRALION TO VISIT BRISBANE IN LATE 2008

Cirque du Soleil ® is pleased to announce its return to Australia with its stunningly visual and spectacularly executed show Dralion™, proudly presented by Optus.

Dralion will open in Sydney in July 2008, and will then embark on a five city tour of Australia, including a visit to Queensland. Brisbane had a record season with Varekai in 2006, Queenslanders really embraced the performance, and Dralion is set to dazzle them even more. The show will open in Brisbane on 27 November 2008, for a limited season.

Since its world premiere in Montreal in April 1999, Dralion has been experienced by more than 6.5 million spectators in 53 cities across the world. It will be the fifth Cirque du Soleil production to tour Australia, after record-breaking attendance numbers with the most recent tour, Varekai, which performed to over 1 million people across the country.

Dralion customers will now be able to purchase their tickets through a new revolutionary Cirque du Soleil online ticketing system, which has had an enormous success in North America.
Cirque du Soleil
Vice-President of Marketing for Asia-Pacific, Milan Rokic said today: “Cirque du Soleil fans demand innovation. With this new booking tool, they will receive unparalleled access to their choice of viewing experience under the Grand Chapiteau. On stage, Dralion continues our tradition of setting the benchmark for live theatrical productions combined with explosive acrobatic talent”.

Bearing the unmistakable avant-garde signature of Cirque du Soleil and featuring a total of 73 artists from 19 countries - including a house troupe of 48 Chinese performers - Dralion will define new heights of acrobatic creativity with its unique and exciting acts. Of course the crazy and colourful clowns also return, adding more than a touch of madness and audience interaction.

Dralion is the fusion of ancient Chinese circus tradition and the avant-garde approach of Cirque du Soleil. The show's name is drawn from its two main symbols: the dragon, representing the East, and the lion, representing the West. Dralion derives much of its inspiration from Eastern philosophy with its perpetual quest for harmony between humankind and nature.
