CIRQUE DU SOLEIL RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA!
NEW SHOW DRALION TO VISIT CANBERRA IN LATE 2008
Cirque du Soleil ® is pleased to announce its return to Australia with its stunningly visual and spectacularly executed show Dralion™, proudly presented by Optus.
Dralion will open in Sydney in July 2008, and will then embark on a five city tour of Australia, including a visit to the National Capital. The show is set to open in Canberra on 23 October 2008 .
Since its world premiere in Montreal in April 1999, Dralion has been experienced by more than 6.5 million spectators in 53 cities across the world. It will be the fifth Cirque du Soleil production to tourm Australia, after record-breaking numbers with the most recent tour, Varekai, which performed to over 1 million people across the country.
Dralion customers will now be able to purchase their tickets through a new revolutionary Cirque du Soleil online ticketing system, which has had an enormous success in North America. Cirque du Soleil Vice-President of Marketing for Asia-Pacific, Milan Rokic said today: “Cirque du Soleil fans demand innovation. With this new booking tool, they will receive unparalleled access to their choice of viewing experience under the Grand Chapiteau. On stage, Dralion continues our tradition of setting the benchmark for live theatrical productions combined with explosive acrobatic talent”.
Bearing the unmistakable avant-garde signature of Cirque du Soleil and featuring a total of 73 artists from 19 countries - including a house troupe of 48 Chinese performers - Dralion will define new heights of acrobatic creativity with its unique and exciting acts. Of course the crazy and colourful clowns also return, adding more than a touch of madness and audience interaction.
