Montreal (September 19, 2012) - After 20 years of touring the world in more than 200 cities in 48 countries, Saltimbanco returns home to Montreal for its final curtain call. Created in 1992 with its World Premiere in Montreal, Saltimbanco will take the stage one last time from December 19 – 30, 2012 at Bell Centre.

As the only Cirque du Soleil show to have performed on five continents, Saltimbanco is a world ambassador that has allowed millions of people to discover the company’s unique style. This groundbreaking show has opened up more than a 150 new markets for Cirque du Soleil. Saltimbanco has proven to be a true phenomenon in the world of live entertainment with 14 million spectators experiencing 6000 performances in 20 years of touring the world.

In the city where its story began and to pay tribute to Saltimbanco’s exceptional journey, the following items and activities will be available for the Montreal engagement: commemorative ticket for all patrons; limited-edition merchandise including souvenir program, men’s and women’s T-shirt and canvas bag; and the “Behind the Scenes” package which includes a pre-show reception and post-show “meet and greet” with Saltimbanco artists.

Still a symbolic show 20 years later
Saltimbanco —from the Italian “saltare in banco,” which literally means “to jump on a bench”—explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and likenesses, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers.

A signature show, Saltimbanco is inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colourful inhabitants. Decidedly baroque in its visual vocabulary, the show’s eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world, an imaginary city where diversity is a cause for hope.

The show features 50 artists from 20 different countries.
