Did you know?

Cirque du Soleil is known the world over for its innovative shows, but here are a few things you may not know…

Costumes

Each bungee costume in Mystère has over 2,000 hand-glued sequins.

The life span for each hand painted bathing suit in “O” is about a month.

In 2007, the Costume workshop will produce more than 20,000 pieces.

The Costume workshop uses more than twenty kilometres of fabric each year.

Since 1998 the shoemaking team has made and/or modified approximately 5,000 pairs of shoes.

Props

Our props department often has to invent their own tools.

The props team has thousands of objects of all kinds that a skilled props person can breathe new life into…

  • An old toaster became a radio in Quidam
  • An empty 2-Litre soda bottle became an hourglass in Dralion
  • Batteries from an electric drill were used to power the lanterns in Alegría
  • Cell phone antennas and plastic toy snakes were used as antennas and moustaches respectively in Dralion

The Creation Studios

Nearly all our artists undergo artistic and acrobatic training at the Creation Studio.

Our performers come from nearly forty different countries.

We employ around twenty trainers from around the world to supervise performer-training programs.
