At the present time, none of our resident shows in Las Vegas are available on DVD. We do not currently have plans to film them.
Most of the DVDs sold by Cirque du Soleil are encoded for Region 1 (U.S. and Canada) only and may not work on DVD players in other countries. Some DVDs encoded for Region 2 and 4 are available under our Grand Chapiteaux in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific, but unfortunately not in the online Boutique.
Our shows change over time. Our creative team works continuously on the shows to ensure that their content is revitalized appropriately as time goes by. These changes eventually affect the CDs for those shows. This is why we add bonus tracks to some of our older CDs.
Varekai features music inspired from the live show. It was the first CD released under the Cirque du Soleil Musique label, and a new approach was adopted compared to Cirque du Soleil's traditional live show soundtrack style.
A CD can hold just over an hour of music, but our shows last from 90 minutes to 2 hours. The music from Cirque du Soleil's live shows is simply too long to fit onto a single CD.
