PROPS/CARPENTRY TECHNICIEN
TOURING SHOW - ARENA

Cirque du Soleil's ice show Crystal is a full-time touring show in search of talent in the United States and around the world. Take your talents on the road and join us on tour in this exciting opportunity!

Reporting to the Production Manager and working under the supervision of the Head of Carpentry, you will be required to:

- Execute show tracks for placing or operating props and related equipment during performances, training and maintenance;
- Fix problems related to props and related to acrobatic equipment during performances;
- Supervise and help carry out special projects;
- Ensure that all aspects of prop-related operations function smoothly during rehearsals and performances;
- Take part in inspecting, maintaining, altering and repairing props and equipment;
- Keep prop archives, stock lists, technical documentation and customs documents up to date;
- Ensure props are correctly installed and consistent with the show’s concept;
- In cooperation with the Head of Carpentry, seek out, order or purchase new or replacement equipment as per the company’s procurement policy;
- Participate in load-in and load-out;
- Replace other technicians in various positions during performances, as needed;
- Apply safety standards and regulations for props, and practise safe work methods;
- Respect and support procedures and requirements set by Cirque du Soleil with regard to managing equipment and stock;
- Use the tools and procedures provided to manage inventory and equipment data;
- Follow requirements defined by the customs and logistics departments for transporting equipment with touring shows;
- Carry out all other related tasks assigned by the Production Manager or the Head of Carpentry.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: 

- College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment or theatre production (or equivalent work experience);
- A minimum of three years' experience as a professional touring props technician;
- Good general understanding of all technical aspects of a show is an asset;
- Woodworking, fibreglass, metalworking, rigging, welding, mechanical, pneumatic and electrical skills an asset;
- Flexibility, autonomy, communication & team player;
- Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure;
- Computer knowledge an asset;
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential;
- Available to tour full time and to work in foreign countries.
