Manager, Performance Medicine

Reporting to the Director of Performance Medicine, this post holder is a professional expert who is responsible for managing and leading medical team activity across allocated shows/venues, striving to create and maintain centres of excellence for Artist Medical Support, Preparation and Rehabilitation, to ensure that appropriate support is provided for all training artists, injured artists, and to the shows to which they are aligned. They are line or functional manager for the Performance Medicine Therapists at allocated shows, and are responsible for implementing business-wide governance policies, standards and procedures as well as guidelines related to the medical performance of the professions. They are directly responsible for recruitment for Performance Medicine Therapists across their shows, the on-boarding of new talent, professional development of the team, and ensuring a suitable network of on-call therapists is available to guarantee appropriate show emergency coverage (along with the relevant technical teams), and the relevant related budgets.  Please note that this position is based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Lead and manage all matters of medical governance across allocated Shows/Events/Locations, including Therapist and Medical Doctor activity, to ensure the highest standards of care for artists, and medical support for shows;
- Line Manage the Performance Medicine Therapists at aligned shows;
- Work intimately with the other Managers and Seniors of Performance Medicine, to ensure alignment of strategy across PMed in Shows, under the Director of Performance Medicine.
- Annually propose, and manage, the assigned show budgets for Performance Medicine covering Massage etc, On-calls/Incidentals, Medical Officers, and Continuing Professional Development for Licensure Renewal.
- Provide expert medical opinion on relevant artist cases and drive for efficient and optimal external care where required;
- Liaise with the Manager of Performance Science to ensure appropriate Strength and Conditioning support at aligned shows; ensure appropriate use of Performance Science experts in line with policy, across aligned shows and injured/unwell artist cases.
- Recruit and manage PMed staffing resource across aligned Shows in collaboration with show staff to ensure appropriate medical coverage with consideration to the global context rather than simply on a per-show basis;
- In conjunction with shows, complete Talent Dialogues for Therapists, to ensure appropriate performance. This should include skills assessments, integration planning and directly leading the planning and support for continuing professional development of performance medicine staff;
- Support Performance Medicine Leads in their Team Leadership and functional management of Therapists, including their professional development and Talent Dialogues;
- Liaise with the medical community and Disability Management, when necessary, to ensure that appropriate medical resources and contacts exist for artists care and follow up;
- Monitor the objectives and achievements of medical performance teams using KPIs on the show;
- Audit medical services delivered to artists, monitor how, and ensure, practices meet the requirements of federal, state and civil authorities;
- Support and account for Performance Medicine Leads’ activity in the ongoing drive to ensure outstanding performance in PMed KPIs at shows;
- Monitor and ensure adherence to guidelines and departmental procedures according to Performance Medicine department standards, medical codes of ethics, and state and federal laws;
- Ensure that all personnel have appropriate medical and related training, and that appropriate certifications/licensures are maintained; collaborate as indicated with the Health and Safety Department and the Training Department;
- Participate in the development of, and ideate, projects related to the professional optimization and evolution of the role through the identification of professional standards and accepted practices;
- Participate in the development of, and ideate, professional practice projects to grow our Intellectual Property regarding Performance Medicine, including the identification of professional standards and globally accepted practices;
- Track appropriate data, and undertake relevant analyses to advance our practice and understanding of illness and injury impact, and of practice on budget and resource.
- Ensure the professional development of show’s therapy staff resources and suitability of kit and facility;
- Provide support to the performance and coaching departments to ensure safety and risk management related to human performance;
- Monitor standards and criteria for professional practice among department staff concerning the management of artists’ medical documentation, and provide training to ensure the respect of related norms;
- Communicate regarding, and ensure the implementation of, strategies recommended by the Director of Performance Medicine among teams;
- Work closely with internal and external key partners to achieve common goals;
- Collaborate with, and support, internal and external therapists to ensure appropriate emergency action plan development, review, maintenance and execution of practices; ensure proper co-ordination between emergency medical personnel as directed, and appropriate show coverage at all times; 
- Monitor complex medical cases, recommend specialized treatments/interventions when appropriate, and review files with the Director of Performance Medicine as required;
- Travel as required to support Performance Medicine departmental needs and mandate;
- Support all other duties as assigned by the Director of Performance Medicine.

The ideal candidate is required to have the following qualifications:
- University degree and certification in Athletic Therapy or Athletic Training or Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy; 
- Fluency in English essential, both oral and written. Fluency in French is an asset;
- Demonstrated skills in: communication, problem-solving, work organization, planning, analysis and synthesis, teamwork, operating under pressure and dealing with ambiguity;
- To hold or achieve an appropriate First Aid/Trauma management qualification including valid CPR and AED certification;
- A minimum of eight years' relevant work experience; 
- Ability and availability to travel often;
- Strong Leadership skills and previous medical leadership experience;

Further desirable criteria are:
- Master’s degree or completion of post baccalaureate educational program deemed equivalent preferred; 
- Professional Registration in Nevada and/or Florida;
- To hold or achieve a valid CPR/AED certification (additional emergency medical training and certifications, an asset); 
- Medical educator qualification or experience;
