Assistant Head Carpenter
Temporary position / 1 year

As an assistant head carpenter, you will be called upon to support the head carpenter of technical services & studios in the organization of projects and resources for studio technical services as well as in production.
You will be recognized for:
• Replace the head carpenter in his absence.
• Support the head carpenter in the coordination of activities related to the work plan by ensuring that deadlines, standards and procedures are respected;
• Perform scenic and scenographic operations as well as maintenance and inspection activities;
• See to the proper functioning of all aspects of scenic and scenographic operations during training and creation of shows;
• Support the establishment and standardization of methods, procedures, practices and protocols for the sphere of the carpenter’s department in the technical services department and studios;
• Collaborate in the ideation phases of new projects;
• Work closely with team members and Studio Operations coordinators to respond to all user requests;
• Ensure the follow-up of projects in his sector;
• Participate in inventory taking and follow up on equipment reservations;
• Help with the integration and training of carpenters;
• Participate in the development of its business sector and of the technical services and studios department
• Update the technical documentation necessary for the operations of its sector of activity;
• Maintain a professional relationship with specialists in their field of expertise;
• Participate in team meetings;
We want to meet you if you have:
• College diploma (or equivalent) in show production, theater production (or equivalent work experience);
• 6 to 8 years of experience producing shows, including 3 years of experience in a circus environment;
• General understanding of all the technical aspects of a show;
• Flexibility, autonomy and team spirit;
• Ability to coordinate and exercise leadership in a work team;
• Good communication, organizational and planning skills;
• Ability to adapt to the unexpected and to work under pressure;
• Ability to operate heavy machinery
• Ability to work in a team and developed sense of customer service;
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications in the Windows environment
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks an asset;
• Fluency in spoken and written French and English;
• Availability to work a variable work schedule;
