The Orlando production of Blue Man Group at Universal is looking for a part-time
Wardrobe and Makeup Assistant. This position will be primarily responsible for providing
additional show coverage, as well as emergency show coverage and occasional
maintenance calls. Due to show schedules, candidate must be available to work nights,
weekends, and occasional holidays, and must be available during the peak seasons of
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break.
The ideal candidate should have 2+ years experience in a wardrobe or cosmetology
capacity with live theatrical productions including bald cap and makeup application,
theatrical dressing, and costume repair. Strong communication skills, time
management, organizational skills, strong sewing skills, and schedule flexibility are
preferred. This position involves close contact with the performers, backstage crew,
stage management team, and directly reports to the Wardrobe and Makeup Supervisor.
The Wardrobe and Makeup Assistant is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 15
pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires ascending
and descending stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like. Track includes working in low
light/semi-darkness and tight spaces. Track also includes large inflatable props being
moved toward you, often thrown with force (Zygote Balls). This position works frequently
with various makeup and household materials and chemicals including latex,
greasepaint, detergents, and various food products.
