From a group of 20 street performers at its beginnings in 1984,Cirque du Soleil is now a major Quebec-based organization providing high-quality artistic entertainment. The company has close to 4,000 employees, including 1,300 performing artists from close to 50 different countries. Cirque du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to more than 155 million spectators in more than 300 cities in over forty countries on six continents.

Martin Labrecque’s professional credits include more than 170 productions in all. He contributed to the success of several shows on the Quebec scene and has picked up several awards and nominations for his lighting design. Martin created the lighting for two critically acclaimed circus shows produced by Cirque Éloize, Rain and Nomade, as well as Cirque du Soleil shows Corteo, KOOZA, Viva ELVIS, Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour and KURIOS – Cabinet of curiosities. He has also created the lighting environment for the Opening Ceremony of the Toronto 2015 PanAm Games. In 2009, Martin designed the lighting for Le Sang des promesses from author and director Wajdi Mouawad, which was presented in the courtyard of the Palais des Papes in Avignon, France. He also worked on the show Paradis perdu, directed by Dominic Champagne and presented in Montreal, as well as the show Belles-Soeurs (2011) directed by René Richard Cyr. With LUZIA, Martin Labrecque collaborates for the sixth time on a Cirque du Soleil show.
