Just saw Varekai at the Patriot Center. This was my 7th CDS show and the very 1st time the show did not take place under the usual big top. What a huge disappointment not that the show itself lost any of its incredible creativity and genius but the venue, an aging cavernous concrete sport venue completely killed this magic atmosphere CDS usually creates. Watching from the top of the risers, even through dead center, was like seeing the show on a tiny TV screen in a bar. Tickets still expensive..

I saw Varekai a few years ago at Suffolk Downs outside Boston and it was fantastic, I saw it again and I was let down. Half of the acts that were in it last time and are in the Cirque Trailer for the show, weren't in it. I don't know if the acts are no longer in the show, or they just weren't in the version we saw, I just wasn't as entertained... I also felt that the show had a lot of filler and few acts... I was pretty bummed and felt like I was slightly cheated... Overall the show wasn't great

Varekai es mi cuarto show visto, luego de Saltimbanco, Alegria y Quidam, y debo decir que uno de mis favoritos. Es un espectàculo magnìfico y alegre. Mis felicitaciones a Dominic Champagne y a su equipo!!!

One mistake that I made in my previous reviews: The French song "Ne me quitte pas" is a 1959 song not 1972 (Jacques Brel did one album called "Ne me quitte pas" in 1972 - re-recordings of many of Brel's best-known songs).

It was my third show from Cirque du soleil. Really enjoyed but I must admit that I have to agree with the following comment: "The plot was a bit hard to follow and characters tricky to understand". With respect to the following comment: "The song in French was a turnoff. Did the actor not speak English? It made we wonder if they knew they were in the U.S.(...)" Why don't you open yourself to other culture instead? It is a famous song from Jacques Brel (1972). Also, the Cirque is from Quebec...

just saw it in Baltimore MD 7/2015, Seen a few shows Vegas, tent show a few years back. The plot was a bit hard to follow and characters tricky to understand but since this is a fantasy forest Icarus falls into its just enjoy the show. I found the clowns one of my favorites, the Trapeze was great, Russian swings a thrill, the light bulb guide was fun and skywatcher interesting. could not figure out the crutches act though. I like the tent shows better, more circus like and customized better.

This is my second Cirque (in the Washington DC area). We admired the acrobatic talents of all the performers and their attention to their performance. The song in French was a turnoff. Did the actor not speak English? It made we wonder if they knew they were in the U.S. Please, more English in the future. The costumes were magnificent. I did have trouble following the story line because there was no playbill.

Very dated. Music and clowns were irritating. Singers have no stage presence. I wish they would have extended the golden aerial strap artists at the end. Much preferred the intimacy of the tent performance last year than the Air Canada centre in Ottawa.

I've been to at least 10 Cirque du Soleil shows in the past, including all 7 in Las Vegas. Varekai was terrible, by comparison. The acrobatic acts were very retro, and boring, baton twirling, Russian dancing, and way too much of the silly clowns on stage, the music became very irritating, as well as the gibberish speak they used constantly. There was no fluidity with the acts or theme for that matter, we had to research online what the show was supposed to be about, after the show. Love ? Reall

This was the second show that I've seen and compared to the first show this one was not as good. There were several segments that needed to do a bit more to make it more interesting/exciting. The clown acts were overall decent but the light bulb guy needs to go. I kept expecting more out of the "main character". He does one thing and he just hangs around.
