Edmonton, November 13, 2012 – Come spring 2013, Cirque du Soleil will raise its trademark blue and yellow Big Top for the first time in Edmonton. Amaluna, the latest big top touring production, premieres May 30, 2013 at Northlands Park. Before arriving in Edmonton, Amaluna will be performing in Calgary at Stampede Park.
Directed by Diane Paulus, a renowned theatre director from New York, Amaluna had its world-premiere in Montreal in April 2012 and is now touring across North America.
Specially-priced tickets are available now exclusively to Cirque Club members at www.cirqueclub.com. Membership is free and registration is quick and simple. Cirque Club members receive advance access to the best seats under the Big Top, ticket upgrades, partner promotions and insider information about the world of Cirque du Soleil.
Tickets will be available to the general public as of December 4, 2012 at www.cirquedusoleil.com/amaluna.
Amaluna invites the audience to a mysterious island governed by Goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon.
Amaluna is a fusion of the words ama, which refers to “mother” in many languages, and luna, which means “moon,” a symbol of femininity that evokes both the mother-daughter relationship and the idea of goddess and protector of the planet. Amaluna is also the name of the mysterious island where the story unfolds.
