Cirque du Soleil management received several marks of recognition in the course of 2011.
Cirque Founder Guy Laliberté was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame in a ceremony that was held in Toronto. This honour is bestowed upon major business leaders who have earned a reputation for excellence and rewards them for both their professional achievements and their contribution to Canadian society.
Furthermore, Mr. Laliberté was also named Business Leader of the Year by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Granted since 1992, this award is presented to a business executive from a Canadian company whose exemplary leadership has resulted in a strong, competitive Canadian presence in global markets.
Likewise, Robert Blain, Cirque du Soleil Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer was named Chief Financial Officer of the Year by CFOCanada.ca, recognizing his key role in Cirque’s development projects, as well as in business risk evaluation.
Mr. Blain also won the first edition of the Aces of Finance contest in the “Private Corporation” category. This contest is organized by the Quebec Chapter of Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), an all-industry professional association for senior financial executives who, through this contest, recognize the exceptional careers, talents and professional contributions of financial executives within their organizations.
