For nearly 20 years, Cirque du Soleil has been a fully engaged and committed citizen of the communities in which we have established residency. Communities where resident shows exist include Las Vegas, NV; Orlando, FL; Los Angeles, CA. Cirque works to establish a dialogue by contributing to community growth, encouraging its employees to participate in action based initiatives and supporting events that are meaningful to the local community.
Yearly events for the community
Cirque du Soleil in partnership with the Las Vegas Valley Water District and the ONE DROP Foundation organizes an annual event in Las Vegas, NV called Run Away with Cirque du Soleil at the Springs Preserve 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Walk. All proceeds from the event support the educational and environmental-sustainability programs at the Springs Preserve.
Most resident shows have transformed their annual dress rehearsal into a benefit performance. Tickets are sold at a modest price to employees of our hotel partners and the profits are distributed to pre-selected local non-profit organizations.
Unique projects and strong ties
Cirque du Soleil has partnered with the Nevada Ballet Theatre for the past few years to create A Choreographers’ Showcase. This one-of-a-kind project was designed to stimulate and encourage artistic growth. Because both companies are filled with young emerging talent both onstage and off, offering them an opportunity to showcase their choreographic, technical and design skills seemed like a natural way to link both companies and our respective missions.
Cirque du Soleil is also involved in many local cultural organizations including The Smith Center for the Performing Arts and the Las Vegas Little Theatre in Las Vegas, NV and the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts and A Gift for Music in Orlando, FL to name a few. Other examples of Cirque du Soleil’s links with our resident show cities include the monthly First Friday arts festival in Las Vegas, NV; Dam Short Film Festival in Boulder City, NV; Glow in Santa Monica, CA and The Festival of the Masters in Orlando, FL.
