Event and Safety Manager

Reporting to the Senior Tour Director, the Event and Safety Manager is responsible for providing the highest level of approachable and responsive guest service, engaging with and training a security team to ensure that employees, guests and physical assets remain safe and secure within a live entertainment environment. 

You will oversee a team of local security personnel by organizing and overseeing their work, ensuring they are welcoming to guests and remain adaptable to unexpected situations.

The Event and Safety Manager will: 

Guest Service and Collaboration
·Supervise and provide ongoing training and support to the security staff to deliver the highest level
of guest experience within a safe and protected environment;
· Partner with the Guest Experience Director to ensure smooth operations, exceptional customer
service and a collaborative spirit between security and guest experience teams;
· Coordinate all parking activities for guests including obtaining permit requests, developing
parking and traffic management plans and coordinating staffing needs and police
· Engage and collaborate with the teams across the company’s divisions (i.e., Touring Show
Division, Health and Safety, Procurement) to sustain positive, cross-functional support;
· In Promoter markets, work with promoter representatives to provide a safe and secure
environment that aligns with Cirque du Soleil’s standards and protocols;
· Liaise with local law enforcement, industry safety organizations and governmental regulatory

Emergency Readiness and Reporting
· Implement and oversee the emergency procedures on tour including leading the training for tour
employees and local staff, and running the evacuation drills;
· In a calm and concise manner, respond to incidents, emergencies and accidents by coordinating
the required staff for a successful response and/or deploying the additional resources as needed;
· Prior to each market, analyze the site plan and recommend best placement of emergency lane,
emergency gates, security tents and bollards;
· Oversee the reporting of all incidents, analyzing trends and establish avoidance plans.

Health and Safety
· Act as key point-of-contact for COVID-19 safety measures for the entire site: ensure compliance
with the regional and local restrictions and protocols; develop and reinforce the sanitary measures
defined by Cirque du Soleil and the tour; and maintain stock levels of sanitary materials and
· Act as coordinator for occupational health and safety procedures on tour: conduct daily site
walkthroughs; maintain on-site first aid stations; oversee safety gear utilized by tour employees;
and ensure the application of safety protocols during set-up and teardown;
· Coordinate health and safety training for production employees
· Work with the front-of-house (FOH) staff to gather feedback and resolve noted safety concerns
· Develop and distribute safety documents such as the “Production Injury and Illness Prevention
· Coordinate and oversee environmental, safety and hygiene programs related to the show
presentation experience; ensure that compliance and a mitigation of risk of injury and illness is

Administration and HR
· Assist in the development of venue policies based on industry standards and best practices;
· Conduct training and briefings of local security personnel with emphasis on customer service,
expectations for bag checks and screens and brief history of Cirque du Soleil;
· Supervise and support the on-site medical team, documenting each incident for reference;
· Conduct inspections with the Fire Marshal, Site Director, and Site Contracts and Permits Manager;
· Oversee the installation, inspection, maintenance of the security equipment on tour (i.e., access
control system, fire extinguishers, metal detectors, CCTV system, radio programming) and ensure
that all related security protocols are enforced and respected;
· Forecast and manage budgets for staffing and equipment needs: outline security and medical
staff unique to each site; consider situational context such as location, territory, site history
(via a city report) and potential global threats; and identify equipment needs, future projects and
areas for improvement.
Your Experience and Qualifications
● Experience motivating and encouraging exceptional customer service and performance;
●  Minimum 4 to 6 years of proven leadership experience in a live event security or safety role
or field;
●  Ability to engage and provide influence within teams and across functions;
●  Proven at working calm under pressure, committed, reliable and maintaining a positive and ;
approachable demeanour with a diverse group of people;
●  Experience using relevant security technology and equipment (e.g., CCTV);
●  Experience in reporting and emergency response planning;
●  Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures;
●  Solid understanding of budgeting and statistical data analysis;
●  Ability to communicate clearly both speaking and in writing;
●  Completion of secondary education;
●  Working knowledge of MS office;
●  CPR/First Aid certification;
●  Fluency in spoken and written English is essential;
●  Able to tour internationally full-time and work long hours, day and night, including weekends
and holidays.
●        Knowledge of the Cirque du Soleil brand, especially touring shows;
●        Education in security administration or similar fields;
●        Fluency, spoken or written, in any language other than English.
