Our Chicago production is looking for a Part-time Props Assistant. This position is responsible for attending work calls as established by the department Supervisor including upkeep, repair, maintenance and research regarding scenic, rigging and props elements.  Knowledge of carpentry, metal working, general facilities maintenance and tool usage are essential. The Assistant is expected to maintain consistent availability and flexibility with scheduling. All crew positions work cross-departmentally and are not solely restricted to projects within their department.

General Responsibilities include:
·         Work directly with Carpentry/Props Supervisor on projects relating to the general upkeep and continual improvement of the show and ancillary work spaces.
·         Maintain knowledge and training to repair, and/or identify problems with all technical elements of the show under the Carpentry/Props jurisdiction, including required prop repairs.
·          Act as Carpentry/Props point person on assigned shifts.
·         Attend all full company meetings, crew meetings and other pre-scheduled meetings
Successful candidates will be self-motivated, innovative and enjoy working in a fast-paced and creative environment. The Props Assistant is required to walk; reach forward and over-head with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  This position requires ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, ropes and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. This is a part-time hourly position at $26/hr.  Start date is August 23, 2021.
