Head of Department, Rigging - Resident Shows Division

Reporting to the Director, Production Services, the Head of Department will lead technical teams across the Resident Show Division portfolio in maintaining equipment and systems at the highest level of quality for all performances.  This position also partners with Senior Operations Production Managers, Technical Managers and Department Supervisors for the coordination and provision of general maintenance.
 
Specific Job Functions:
·         Maintains oversight of centralized maintenance crew, redistributes workload and personnel as needed;
·         In coordination with Production Services and Senior OPMs, advises on Operational Budgets for Divisional Shows;
·         Oversees on-call pool, deploying personnel in support of show operations when required;
·         Prioritizes and assigns maintenance and inspection of equipment on a regular schedule to insure thorough, timely scrutiny of all related equipment and systems;
·         Responsible for the efficient management of labor and material within parameters set by the Director, Production Services;
·         Supports Department Supervisors on a daily basis with policy, procedures and HR-related issues in coordination with property HR team as needed;
·         Supports Department Supervisors with hiring of new employees, performance evaluations and taking disciplinary and corrective actions as needed;
·         Coordinates with Artistic Direction and Production Services on changes and ongoing development within Resident Shows Division;
·         Coordinates the administrative needs of the maintenance and on-call teams including:  purchasing paperwork, disciplinary matters, vacation requests, timekeeping for staff;
·         Ensures the artistic integrity of equipment and effects are aligned with the intent of the designer;
·         Oversees with the establishment of standard operating procedures, assists show teams with conforming to and improving these procedures;
·         Coordinates special projects including the research, purchase, and installation of specialty items;
·         Models safety procedures for staff: enforce fall protection protocols, the use of personal protective gear, safe tool handling, respirator use, etc.;
·         Coordinates with other Department Heads to ensure safe training rehearsal and show environments within the Division;
·         Conduct regular departmental meetings to ensure timely and appropriate communication is occurring among department supervisors;
·         Coordinates scheduling and training of maintenance crew and on-call staff as required;
·         Maintains flexible availability to accommodate work schedules, work calls, training, maintenance, and performances;
·         Participates in all company required training classes including:  OSHA 30, Fall Protection, Heart Saver, Lock-out/Tag-out, etc.;
·         Participates in emergency procedure training and practices;
·         Establishes regular, respectful, and clear communication with other department heads, show teams, and RSD leadership
·         All other duties as assigned by the Director, Production Services.
Qualifications:
·         Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience as Head of Department in the field of live stage performance;
·         Experience in running a technical department with large scale productions;
·         Must be proficient in the operation and repair of all related equipment;
·         Must possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills, be self-motivated, highly organized, and able to delegate;
·         Must have high school diploma or equivalent;
·         Strong computer knowledge is an asset, especially in the areas of internet research, database management, purchasing software, Excel, Word, and Outlook;
·         Must have OSHA 30 certification.
