Enrique Cerezo, Executive President of the Platino Awards and President of the Entidad de Gestión de Derechos de los Productores Audiovisuales (EGEDA), received the award from Norma Preciado, Grupo Vidanta’s Director of Lifestle and Entertainment Marketing, before a special performance by Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ, the company’s exclusive resident show in Mexico and the only production in the world that involves a gastronomic experience.

Norma Preciado announced, "At Grupo Vidanta we carry on our commitment to the entertainment industry through the arts and the promotion of Mexican culture. We are very excited to present this recognition to the Platino Awards of Ibero-American Cinema, not only for the affinity they have with our values and for their commitment to the industry, but also for the positive attention they have generated around Riviera Maya, as the perfect touristic destination.”

The Platino Awards of Ibero-American Cinema bring together the most outstanding directors, actors, writers, musicians, and producers from the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America, and the Caribbean. After an exclusive function sponsored by Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ , the awards attendees (among them such internationally known figures as Eugenio Derbez, Joaquim De Almeida, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Tini Stoessel, Asier Etxeandia, and Claudia Álvarez) enjoyed a spectacular after party at the Nektar bar in Vidanta Riviera Maya.

Grupo Vidanta's sponsorship of the 2018 Platino Awards of Ibero-American Cinema continues the company’s history of actively supporting Mexico’s entertainment industry, whether through the filming of major Works such as the James Bond film Spectre in Mexico City, or in strategic partnerships with Cirque du Soleil and Hakkasan Group.
